Created as both artwork and concept, Pieces served as the foundation for developing the colorways of my silk scarf collection. Acting as a mood board on canvas, the work explores how bold blocks of color, pattern, and typography can coexist in harmony, allowing ideas to be tested, refined, and translated into wearable form. From this painting, the final colorway selected for production was pink, which became the foundation for a 100% silk, double-sided scarf.
Beyond its role in design, Pieces stands as a complete work of art - a celebration of process, experimentation, and the fluid link between fashion and fine art. The word SAFE, repeated throughout the composition, represents what I embody in my first body of work. SAFE is not only a name, but a state of being - feeling safe spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically. This philosophy informs both my visual language and my approach to design.
Creating safe spaces is central to my practice, and clothing becomes one of those spaces. What we wear shapes how we move through the world - look good, feel good, feel safe. The silk scarf extends the painting beyond the canvas, offering comfort, confidence, and protection as an external expression of inner safety.
